Chipped Beef Dip

(from SallyV’s recipe box)

There are lots of similar recipes out there for this dip, but this has to be one of the first. I had it at a party in 1972!

Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes

Categories: Appetizer

Ingredients

  • 1 T. butter
  • 3/4 C. pecans, chopped
  • 8 oz. Cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 C. sour cream
  • 1 T. milk
  • 1 t. garlic powder
  • 1/2 t. pepper
  • 1 small jar chipped beef, small dice
  • 1/2 green pepper, small dice
  • 1/2 small onion, small dice

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°. Butter a 9” pie plate or quiche dish.

  2. In a small skillet, sauté the pecans in butter until lightly browned. Set aside.

  3. Beat the cream cheese, sour cream, milk, garlic powder and pepper until smooth. Add the chipped beef, green pepper and onion. Spread in prepared pan and spread the pecans on top. Bake for 20 minutes. Serve with Keebler Wheat Toast crackers.

  4. I always double this recipe if there are more than 6 people coming. It’s great left over too…just reheat in microwave.
