Oatmeal Refrigerator Crisps

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups quick oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg, vanilla and beat well. Ad sifted dry ingredients and blend. Add oats and nuts. Mix and shape into 2 rolls about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed pater and chill in refrigerator for several hours or over night. Cut aout 1/4" slices and bake onoiled cookie cheet in a moderate over about 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen
