Votthushaavige Uppittu

Ingredients

  • 1 cup thin Rice sevia
  • 1/4 cup boiled Mixed vegetables - beans, carrot, green pepper, peas
  • 1 chopped Onion
  • 1 chopped Tomato
  • 3 chopped Green chillies
  • 1 tbsp grated Coconut
  • 1/2 tbsp chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp grated Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp Curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Bengal gram
  • 1/4 tsp Black gram
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Break the lengthy sevia into pieces and set aside.

  2. In a pan, boil 2 cups of water, add the turmeric, salt and sevia.

  3. Bring to boil for 5 minutes and remove from the heat and drain.

  4. Heat the oil in a saucepan, splutter the mustard seeds and add the black gram, bengal gram and stir fry.

  5. Add the green chillies, ginger and curry leaves, fry for 30-40 seconds.

  6. Add the onions and fry until turns to light brown color.

  7. Add the tomatoes and fry until done.

  8. Add the salt, boiled vegetables, coconut and curry powder, mix well.

  9. Add the boiled sevia, lemon juice and coriander leaves, stir for couple of minutes.

  10. .Serve warm.
