Buttermilk Coffee Cake

This is a light, fluffy, buttery coffee cake. Perfect topped with Oatmeal Topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/3 cups buttermilk
  • 1 recipe Oatmeal Topping

Directions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.

  2. Cut in butter. Stir in baking powder, baking soda, and spices.

  3. Stir in the buttermilk and eggs gently. Spoon batter into a 9×13 greased pan. Sprinkle 2 recipes of Oatmeal Topping on top.

  4. Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes until center is set.
