Sassy Barbecued Shrimp

Serves 8 people

Ingredients

  • 32 large shrimp, peeled and deveined (about 1 lb)
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp dark sesame oil
  • 2 tsp chili paste
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Cooking spray

Directions

  1. Combine first 9 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag.

  2. Seal and shake to coat.

  3. Marinate in refrigerator 15 minutes.

  4. Prepare grill or broiler.

  5. Remove shrimp from bag, reserving marinade.

  6. Thread 4 shrimp onto each of 8 (12-inch) skewers.

  7. Place kebabs on a grill rack or broiler pan coated with cooking spray.

  8. Cook 3 minutes on each side or until shrimp are done; baste frequently with marinade.
