Dilly Cheddar Cubes

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 Cup butter
  • 1 pkg. cream cheese, cubed
  • 2 tsp. minced chives
  • 1 tsp dill weed
  • 2 egg whites
  • 24 cubes French bread (1-inch cubes)

Directions

  1. Line a baking pan with waxed paper; set aside. In a small saucepan, combine the first five ingredients. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until cheese is melted. Remove from heat

  2. In a small mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into cheese mixture.

  3. Using a fork, dip bread cubes into cheese mixture and place on prepared pan. Freeze, uncovered, until firm.

  4. Transfer to a resealable plastic freezer bag; freeze up to 3 months.

  5. To serve: Arrange frozen bread cubes 1 inch apart on greased baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.
