Chow Mein

Serves 5 people

Ingredients

  • 1# pork or beef cut into small chunks
  • 3 c thin celery slices
  • 1 c onion
  • 1 c mushrooms sliced
  • 2 1/2 Tbs corn starch
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1/4 c soy sauce
  • 1 # can bean sprouts drained
  • 5 oz can water chestnuts drained, sliced

Directions

  1. Cook meat in oil about 10 minutes until done.

  2. Remove meat. Cook celery, onions and mushrooms in pan 2-3 minutes.

  3. Blend cornstarch and 1/4 c water, add beef broth and soy sauce.

  4. Stir into vegetables, add meat, sprouts and water chestnuts.

  5. Heat and stir until thickened.

  6. Serve with rice or chow mein noodles, and Chinese crispy noodles.
