Mom’s Pepper Steak

This was Grandpa & Uncle Melvin’s favorite

Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 90 minutes
Serves 4 people

Ingredients

  • 1 Flank Steak
  • 2 Tbs oil
  • 1 Tb flour
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 Tbs soy sauce
  • 1 beef bouillion cube
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1 large onion, sliced in rings
  • 1 large green pepper, sliced
  • 1 can mushrooms, 4 oz.

Directions

  1. Thinly slice meat across the grain

  2. Brown meat in oil, and remove from pan

  3. Combine flour through black pepper

  4. Heat to boiling

  5. Add meat and onion, and cover

  6. Simmer one hour

  7. Add green onions and mushrooms

  8. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes longer

  9. Serve over white rice
