Egg in a Nest

  • 2 (1-inch-thick) slices of bread
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs


  1. Cut or tear a 1 1/2-inch hole out of each slice of bread.

  2. Heat a medium frying pan over medium heat, and melt the butter until it foams. Add the bread slices.

  3. Crack an egg into each bread hole, season with salt and freshly ground black pepper, and cook until the egg sets up, about 3 minutes. Flip and repeat.
