Palak Paneer Recipe

Ingredients

  • Spinach/Palak - 3 cups tightly packed
  • Paneeer/Indian cheese - 15-20 pieces. (Refer Homemade Paneer recipe for soft and delicious paneer)
  • Garlic -4 cloves finely chopped
  • Onion - 1/2 cup chopped finely
  • Ginger- garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  • Tomatoes -2 finely chopped
  • Green Chillies -1
  • Oil- 2 tbsp
  • Salt as required
  • Spice powder
  • Cumin /Jeera powder -1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder -1 tsp
  • Chillies powder -1/2 tsp or as required
  • Garam masala powder -1/4 tsp
  • For the seasoning
  • Cumin seeds -1 tsp

Directions

  2. Cook spinach in boiling water for 5 minutes.When it cools, grind it to a fine paste with chillies. Keep it aside.

  3. Cut paneer into cubes and shallow fry it in oil till light brown. Keep it aside

  4. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, when it splutters, add finely chopped onions, garlic and saute till it becomes transparent.

  5. Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for a few more minutes.

  6. Add tomatoes and cook till tomatoes turn mushy. Add salt needed and all the spice powder .

  7. Now add the palak/spinach puree and a cup of water.Use the water in which you cooked spinach. Let the gravy start boiling.

  8. Add paneer cubes and simmer for 3 minutes until everything gets blended well.

  9. If the gravy become thick, add more water and adjust the consistency. Check for salt.

  10. Enjoy palak paneer with any Indian Bread.
