Hungarian Goulash

Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef stew meat
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • dash cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cold water
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Directions

  1. Cook and stir beef in shortening until brown; drain. Stir in next 8 ingredients. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer until beef is tender, 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

  2. Shake 1/4 up cold water and flour in tightly covered container; stir gradually into beef mixture. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Serve over cooked egg noodles.
