Favorite Salisbury Steak

Ingredients

  • PATTIES:
  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 to 1 t. seasoned salt
  • 1/4 t. black pepper
  • 4 t. worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • GRAVY:
  • 2 14 1/2-oz. cans beef consomme
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 t. basil
  • 1 6-oz. can mushrooms, drained
  • 4 t. worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl combine all patty ingredients; mix gently. Shape into 6 oval patties, about 3/4" thick.

  2. Spray large skillet with non-stick cooking spray. Heat over medium heat until hot. Add patties; cook 3 minutes on each side or until browned.

  3. In a small bowl, combine consume and cornstarch until smooth. Add mushrooms, worcestershire sauce and basil; set aside. Pour into same skillet. Cook over low heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly.

  4. Return patties to skillet; cover and simmer about 15 minutes or until patties are thoroughly cooked.
