Homemade Granola

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 40 minutes
Serves 8 people


  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 5 cups rolled oats (not instant)
  • 2 cups chopped almonds or pecans
  • 2 cups raisins
  • Cinnamon or other spices optional


  1. Preheat oven to 325F

  2. Combine sugar, syrup, oil and vanilla in a large mixing bowl.

  3. Add in oats, stirring well to ensure all are well covered.

  4. Add nuts.

  5. Pour mixture onto parchment lined baking sheet(s), then press down firmly with a metal spatula, aiming for a thickness no greater than 3/8".

  6. Bake, without stirring, for 40 min, rotating pan once

  7. Cool for 60 min on wire rack, then break up into chunks of desired size.

  8. Store in air tight container for up to 2 weeks.
