Topsy Turvy Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • GLAZE and CRUST
  • 1/4c firmly packed Brown Sugar
  • 1TBSP Butter
  • 1TBSP Corn Syrup
  • 1/4 Pecan Halves
  • 15oz pkg refrigerated Pie Crust
  • FILLING
  • 2/3c Sugar
  • 2TBSP Flour
  • 1/2tsp Cinnamon
  • 4 Medium Apples, thinly peeled and sliced
  • TOPPING
  • Whipped Cream or Ice Cream

Directions

  1. In 9" glass pie pan, combine brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup and mix well. Spread evenly on bottom of pan. Arrange pecans over mixture. Place pie crust over mixture. Heat oven to 425

  2. In small bowl, combine sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Mix well. Arrange 1/2 of apple slices in crust-lined pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 the sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining apples and sugar mixture. Top with second crust. Seal edges and flute. Cut several slits in crust.

  3. Place pie pan on sheet or foil on oven rack. Bake at 425 for 8 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 and bake 35-45 minutes until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.

  4. Immediately knife around the edges to loosen. Carefully invert onto serving plate. Serve warm or cool with whipped cream or ice cream.
