Apple Cheddar Crisp

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C packed brown sugar
  • 2 T all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 6 C peeled, sliced tart apples (about 5 large apples)
  • TOPPING
  • 1/2 C packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 C all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 C quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 C butter or margarine
  • 1/3 C chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1 C shredd mild cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, flour and cinnamon; mix well. Add apples; toss to coat well. Sppoon into a 9 inch square glass baking dish. To prepare topping, in a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Stir in walnuts. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minuts or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Top with cheese. Let stand 30 minutes before serving.
