Golden garlic cheese grits

Serves 10 people

Ingredients

  • 1 c grits, uncooked
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 8 oz garlic flavored cheese (if you cannot find this, use a processed cheddar cheese and 1 clove garlic minced very fine)
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • cayenne pepper to taste
  • 2 T worcestershire sauce
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • paprika, to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350

  2. cook grits in salted water as directed on package. When cooked, add the butter, cheese, pepper, cayenne, and worcestershire sauce. Stir until the butter and cheese have melted. Add the egg yolks and stir well. In a medium mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, stiffly beat the two eggs whites, fold into grits mixture.

  3. Pour into a greased casserole, and sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 350 for 30 min or until golden brown.
