Russian Tea Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped pecans

Directions

  1. Cream shortening; add sugar gradually. Cream well. Sift flour and salt together; add to creamed mixture. Work with hands until mixed. Add vanilla and nuts.

  2. Chill dough. Form into balls 1 inch diameter. The dough will be crumbly, but it’s well worth the effort! Put on greased tins. Bake 14-17 minutes in moderate oven. When done, roll immediately in powdered sugar. When cool, roll again in powdered sugar.
