Ingredients

  • 1 loaf large dark bread unsliced
  • 2 Tbs butter
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped
  • 6 cloves fresh minced garlic
  • 8 oz cream cheese (room temp)
  • 16 oz sour cream
  • 12 oz cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 can (14 oz) artichoke heats, drained and cut into quarters (water pack, not marinated)

Directions

  1. Cut a hole in the top of the bread loaf about 5 inches in diameter.

  2. If you wish, make a zigzag pattern to be decorative.

  3. Remove soft break from cut portion and discard.

  4. Reserve crust to make top for loaf.

  5. Scoop out most of the soft inside part of bread and save for other recipes, or throw out!

  6. In about 2 tbs butter, saute green onions and garlic until onions wilt. Do not burn!

  7. Cut cream cheese into small chunks; add onions, garlic, sour cream and cheddar cheese.

  8. Mix well. Fold in artichoke hearts.

  9. Put all of this mixture into hollowed out break.

  10. Place top on bread and wrap in double layer of a thick, heavy duty foil.

  11. Bake in 350 oven for 1 1/2 – 2 hours.

  12. When ready remove foil and serve, using thin slices of warm garlic bread to dip out sauce.
