Tortiere

Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey, leaner is better)
  • 1/2 cup or so hot water
  • 1/2 tsp salt and pepper
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1-2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp savory
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/4-1/2 cup instant mashed potato flakes
  • 2 crust pastry

Directions

  1. eheat oven to 325. Bring first 9 ingredients to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer until pink is gone from meat (about 20 min). Add instant mashed potato flakes or breadcrumbs (3-4 tbsp) to absorb excess fat. Bake in 2 shell pie pastry, 20-25 min or until crust is golden and filling is hot.
