Candied Yams

Ingredients

  • 3 or 4 medium yams
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • cinnamon
  • butter

Directions

  1. Cook yams in water until fork tender. Peel and slice lengthwise about 3/4 inch thick. Arrange yams in a glass dish. Mix sugars and water in a small saucepan. Cook to boiling. Simmer till syrupy (about 1/2 hour). Add vinegar 9do not boil after adding). Pour syrup over yams. Sprinkle with cinnamon and dot with butter. Bake at 350 for 30 to 45 minutes.
