New England Dinner

Ingredients

  • 6-7 lbs. Corned beef, or Smoked Picnic Ham
  • 1 head cabbage (usually smallest head you buy)
  • 8 potatoes
  • 8 carrots

Directions

  1. Place ham in a crock-pot or Dutch oven and cover with just enough water to cover ham. If you can’t cover ham with water fill as much as you can without it overflowing. Simmer on low for 3 hours then remove meat. Keep water in pot.

  2. As meat cools. Prepare cabbage by cutting into smaller pieces and place in pot over water. Start cutting other vegetables and place in pot when finished. Cut meat off bone. Place immediately in pot.

  3. Simmer 1 hour or until vegetables are done.
