Apple Dumplings

My Father’s Favorite. These are tart dumplings topped with a carmel sauce

Serves 8 people

Ingredients

  • 6-8 apples
  • cinnamon
  • sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Directions

  1. Make a rich biscuit biscuit dough. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut into squares. Place apple, either whole or in slices onto square. Sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar and a small piece of butter. Pull corners together and seal.

  2. In a 9 by 12 inch pan, combine 1 cup sugar, 1 1/2 cup water and 4 tablespoons butter. Boil to dissolve sugar.

  3. Place filled dumplings carefully into hot syrup. Bake at 450 degrees until apples are tender. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream or the following carmel topping.

  4. Topping

  5. Mix together 1 Cup brown sugar, 3 tablespoons flour and 1 1/2 cups water. Bring to boil and cook until thickened.
