Mom’s Stuffing

This is the dressing that we always have for Thanksgiving dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 Large loaf of stale homemade bread or a very good quality purchased bread.
  • 2 medium onions
  • sage-rubbed
  • poultry seasoning, to taste
  • 10 medium potatoes, mashed and hot
  • 2 cups milk combined with 1/2 cup margarine

Directions

  1. Combine bread that has been broken or cut into cubes, onion and seasonings. best if done a day ahead. Before baking, mash potatoes and put on top of bread mixture. Cool and mix. Place this mixture in oven proof pan. Drizzle milk mixture on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes until brown on top. It helps to cover with aluminim foil for part of the time to steam.
