Pulau

Ingredients

  • For Masala Paste:
  • 1 medium sized onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 4 cloves
  • 3 inches peeled ginger
  • 2 serrano chili
  • 1 cup of mint leaves
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • Remaining Ingredients:
  • 2 TBPS butter
  • 5 TBPS vegetable or saffola oil
  • 2 long cinnamon sticks
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • turmeric powder
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1-2 carrots, diced
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 small to medium diced potato (medium size potato)
  • frozen cut green beans, 1/2 cup
  • frozen peas
  • 2 cups cooked Basmati rice
  • lemon juice

Directions

  1. grind all the ingredients for Masala Paste in a food processor and set aside

  2. for the Pulau, use a cooking pot, and sautee the butter, vegetable oil, cinnamon, bay leaves, and turmeric powder for one minute

  3. add the sliced onion and cook / caramelize about 10 minutes – don’t leave the stove!

  4. add the masala paste, and sautee for one minute

  5. add carrots, and chopped tomato

  6. cook on low for 5 minutes, then add the diced potato

  7. salt to taste

  8. cover and simmer for 5 minutes

  9. add frozen cut green beans

  10. turn of heat and add frozen peas

  11. add 2 cups cooked Basmati rice, lemon juice, and mix well

  12. salt again to taste.
