Blueberry Grunt

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 5 cups frozen blueberries (unthawed)
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces, room temperature
  • 1 large egg
  • 2/3 cup milk (whole)
  • unsweetened whipped cream

Directions

  1. eheat oven to 350. Pour melted butter into glass baking dish. Add 4 cups frozen blueberries. Sprinkle 1 cup sugar over. Mix remaining ΒΌ cup sugar, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in medium bowl. Add room temperature butter; rub in with fingers until mixture resembles coarse meal. Whisk egg and milk in small bowl. Add to flour mixture; whisk until blended. Pour batter over blueberries in baking dish. Sprinkle batter with remaining 1 cup blueberries.

  2. Bake 30 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 400 and continue baking until batter puffs and is golden, about 15 minutes. Spoon dessert into deep bowls. Top with whipped cream and serve warm.
