Broiled Round-up Steak with Mushroom Sauce

Serves 4 people

Ingredients

  • Marinade
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or sherry
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • Steak Sauce
  • 1 lb 1-in thick - beef top sirloin steak
  • whole mushrooms (canned - drained)
  • 1/2 cup diagonally cut green onions 1in pcs

Directions

  1. combine marinade ingredients-mix well

  2. score steak in diamond pattern, 1/8 in deep

  3. place in bag.

  4. pour marinade over steak and seal bag

  5. turn and refrigerate for 4 hours, turning occasionally

  6. drain steak, reserve marinade.

  7. place steak, scored side up on broiler pan.

  8. broil 4-6 in from heat for 13-17 min

  9. in saucepan, bring reserved marinade to boil. Add mushrooms and oinions, cook and stir 1-2 min or until thoroughly heated. Place steak on platter, spoon mushrooms soauce over steak.
