Tangy Slow Cooker Beef Brisket

I haven’t tried this yet, but it sounds yummy.

Cook time: 540 minutes
Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 beef brisket, about 5 pounds
  • 1-15 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1/3 C. red wine vinegar
  • 2 T. brown sugar
  • 2 T. liquid smoke
  • 1/2 C. soy sauce
  • 2 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 C. barbecue sauce
  • Cayenne pepper or hot sauce, to taste
  • 1/3 C. light or dark corn syrup
  • 1 T. garlic powder
  • 1 T. dry mustard
  • 6 oz. lemon-lime soft drink, or ginger ale

Directions

  1. Trim brisket of all visible fat; place in slow cooker.

  2. In a medium-size bowl, combine remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour over brisket.

  3. Cook on high heat for 2 hours, or until simmering. Turn heat to low and cook for 7 to 9 hours.
