Rolladen

You can also roll a whole raw slice of bacon around the rolled meat, instead of using chopped bacon on the inside.

Ingredients

  • 6 rolladen slices
  • prepared mustard, approx. 1 tsp per slice
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 12 slices bacon, finely chopped
  • 6 slices dill pickle
  • salt
  • pickle

Directions

  1. Spread each slice of meat with the prepared mustard. Cover each slice with the chopped onion and chopped bacon, and add one slice of dill pickle. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  2. Roll up each slice of meat and filling carefully and fasten with toothpicks to keep the filling in.

  3. Brown rolls in a heavy skillet using small amount of shortening.

  4. Place browned rolls into casserole dish, add drippings from skillet plus 1 cup water, cover, and bake in 300 degree oven until tender.
