Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 c boiling water
  • 2 heaping tbsp cocoa
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 c buttermilk

Directions

  1. Combine baking soda, water, & cocoa.

  2. Set aside to cool.

  3. Mix together sugar, shortening, & eggs.

  4. Add four, salt, vanilla, & baking powder to the buttermilk.

  5. Stir in cocoa mixture.

  6. Mix all ingredients together well.

  7. Pour in well greased & floured 9×13 inch pan.

  8. Bake at 350 degrees.
