Ingredients

  • 1lb grass fed butter
  • funnel
  • cheesecloth/coffee filter

Directions

  1. Place butter in a flameproof glass dish on stove top & heat.

  2. Completely melt the butter and bring to a slow boil.

  3. Skim off all the foam that has risen to the top.

  4. Gently simmer the butter for 5-10 mins to completely separate out the milk solids from the butter oil.

  5. It is ready when it becomes completely clear & translucent & you can see right to the bottom of the dish and see the milk solids turning slightly brown.

  6. Turn off the heat.

  7. Place the funnel into a glass jar and line with the cheesecloth/coffee filter.

  8. Pour the butter oil through the funnel.

  9. Remove the cheesecloth & funnel the reveal jar of ghee.

  10. Allow to cool & leave on counter for several months – does not need to be refrigerated.

  11. Can be used to fry – has a very high smoke point.

  12. Can also be taken as a supplement with cod liver oil to improve effects.
