Mom’s Angel Pie

Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup cream whipped
  • Peaches or strawberries

Directions

  1. tter a 9" pie plate. Set oven to 275.

  2. Beat until stiff the egg whites, salt and cream of tartar.

  3. Beat in a spoonful at a time sugar, vanilla. Spread in the pan, having the edges higher to make a rim. Bake until dry and firm to the touch but not brown. (about 1 hour) Turn off the heat and cool in oven with the door open.

  4. Spread with 1/2 cup whipped cream

  5. Let stand several hours or overnight in the refrigerator. Cover with strawberries or peaches.

  6. Spread with 1/2 cup whipped cream.
