Baked Italian Chicken

Ingredients

  • 6 chicken breasts
  • Oil
  • 2 T butter
  • 2T flour
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1-cup (4 oz) mozzarella cheese

Directions

  1. Brush oil on 13×9 dish; place chicken in pan.

  2. Bake uncovered at 400 degrees for 20 min.

  3. Meanwhile for sauce; melt butter in saucepan; stir in flour until smooth.

  4. Whisk in milk and bring to a boil.

  5. Cook and stir for 2 min.

  6. Add seasonings.

  7. Pour over chicken.

  8. Drizzle with tomato sauce; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and remaining Parmesan.

  9. Bake 15 more min or until the cheese is lightly browned.
