Heavenly chocolate cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup strong coffee
  • 200 g brown sugar
  • 200 g sugar
  • 350 g butter
  • 300 g dark chocolate (suðusúkkulaði), broken
  • 100 g milk chocolate, broken
  • 5 large eggs

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 180°C.

  2. Grease a large round “spring” cake tin. Wrap with foil to avoid any leaking of mixture (it is very runny).

  3. Put coffee and sugar in a saucepan, bring to the boil.

  4. Remove from heat and add butter and chocolate.

  5. Must not boil after adding the chocolate, mix well.

  6. Beat eggs together, add to mixture and mix well.

  7. Pour into prepared cake tin.

  8. Bake 60 minutes and then cool for 3-4 hours before serving with cream/ice-cream and fresh berries.

  9. (Note: I use 3/5 of this recipe for 5 people + left-overs. I bake it in a silicone cake tin.
