Firefighters Meatloaf

This recipe is from my mother in law in NJ. She says it’s from the newspaper and that the local firemen have made this at the station for years. It’s yummy, but there’s a lot of it so it’s not a recipe for a weeknight family dinner (unless you have a huge family) :0)

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. ground beef
  • 2 pkgs. Lipton onion soup
  • 4 eggs
  • 8 slices white bread chopped into crumbs
  • 4 oz. milk
  • 4 oz. ketchup
  • 1 oz steak sauce
  • 1 oz Worcestershire
  • 2 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1 Tbsp. basil
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • Salt and Pepper

Directions

  1. Mix bread crumbs with milk in a bowl, then mix in all remaining ingredients.

  2. Form 3 meatloaves on a sheet pan.

  3. Place enough water in the pan to cover bottom.

  4. Bake 350 for 1 hour, coat top with ketchup- return to oven for another ½ hour.
