Chile Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 3 Gala apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup raw sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 green chiles, roasted, peeled, seeded, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Topping:
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cups granola
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Directions

  1. In your slow cooker, toss together all of the filling ingredients except for the water

  2. When apples are coated, add water and stir

  3. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours

  4. In the meantime, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in a skillet

  5. Lightly brown the granola in the butter, stirring frequently, about 10 minutes

  6. Set aside

  7. After two hours, stir the apples and cover with the granola

  8. Dot the remaining butter on top of the granola and sprinkle with brown sugar

  9. Cover and continue cooking on high for 15 minutes

  10. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream

  11. Makes 6-8 servings
