Ghiradelli Mississippi Mud bars

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 ounces Ghiradelli semi-sweet chocolate baking bar chopped and divided
  • 4 ounces Ghiradelli white chocolate baking bar, chopped and divided
  • 1 cup walnutes chopped and divided

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy at medium speed.

  3. Mix in flour, baking soda and salt.

  4. Stir in half of the semi-sweet and white chocolate and /2 cup of the walnuts.

  5. Spread in greased foil-lined 9 inch square baking pan.

  6. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out almost clean.

  7. Sprinkle with remaining semi-sweet and white chocolates.

  8. Cover with foil. Let stand 5 minutes or until chocolates are melted.

  9. Swirl chocolates with small knife to marbleize.

  10. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup walnuts.

  11. Cool in pan until firm, then cut into bars.
