Basic Biscuits – Modified

Serves 3 people

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/8 cup milk (1/2 of 3/4's)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp white sugar (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

  2. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder and seasonings. Cut in shortening with fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Now add in butter and mix well with fork.

  4. Pour milk into flour mixture while stirring with a fork. Mix in milk until dough is soft, moist and pulls away from the side of the bowl. Mix well with fork.

  5. Add blobs into a butter sprayed muffin tin forming them lightly. Do not overfill, no higher than level.

  6. Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 minutes.

  7. Makes exactly 6 biscuits.
