Pecan Praline Toffee Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 (14 oz.) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/4 cup plus 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar, divided
  • 1 (8 oz.) package English toffee bits
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. Carmalize sweetened condensed milk using one of the methods described below.

  2. Set aside to cool.

  3. Heat oven to 350° degrees.

  4. Combine flour, chopped pecans, butter and 1/4 cup brown sugar in small bowl.

  5. Press in bottom of 13 × 9-inch baking pan. Bake 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned.

  6. Combine cooled caramelized sweetened condensed milk with toffee bits; set aside. Spray square baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.

  7. Combine pecan halves, remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar and cream in medium bowl. Spread in prepared pan.

  8. Bake 20 minutes or until coating is dry and slightly crystallized, stirring after 10 minutes. Remove from oven; stir again.

  9. Cool.

  10. Pour toffee filling over crust.

  11. Coarsely break up pecan topping; sprinkle over filling.

  12. Cut into bars.

  13. CARAMELIZATION METHODS

  14. Pour 1 can sweetened condensed milk, into top of double boiler.

  15. Place over boiling water.

  16. Over low heat, simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until thick and caramel-colored.

  17. Beat until smooth.
