Caramel Sauce

easy and lots of uses. better than bottled stuff.

Ingredients

  • 1 1//2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Cook over medium heat. Stir and cook until sugar dissolves completely. Cook over medium-low heat until mixture becomes amber color, about 5 minutes or more. Do not stir. If needed, swirl gently but no stirring. Remove from heat and add butter. Swirl it around. It will bubble up.
  2. Add cream and whisk until smooth. Add vanilla; whisk until smooth. Pour into a jar and cool 10 to 15 minutes
