Apple Dumplings

These are so good, everyone loves them.
I substituted blended brown sugar 1/2 cup plain yogurt (instead of butter) and sprite zero for soda to make it better for diabetics

Ingredients

  • 2 (8 oz.) cans crescent rolls
  • 2 sticks butter ( or 1l2 cup plain yogurt)
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar ( or blended brown sugar)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup 7up or other lemon soda( or Sprite Zero)
  • 2 apples

Directions

  1. Butter 13 x9 inch baking dish. Preheat oen to 350 degrees.
  2. Peel and core apples, then cup each apple into 8 slices. Roll each slice in a crescent roll and place in buttered dish.
  3. In a medium saucepan over med-low heat melt butter, stir in brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon; when it’s thickened, remove form heat and pour over dumplings.
  4. Pour the soda in the middle and along edges of pan. ( do not pour over dumplings, it will wash off sugar mixture.)
  5. Bake 35 to 45 minutes, until golden brown, and bubbly. Serve warm.
