Apple Rose Cups

Chinese recipe translated for me by a friend. not only are they pretty to look at, but they taste delish.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 red apple
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
  • 3 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • extra honey, powdered sugar and cinnamon
  • for sprinkling

Directions

  1. Cut apple in half and remove core. Slice apple in thin slices form the side. Place slices in a pan and add sugar, honey and water. Cook over low heat 4-5 minutes. Take out apple to drain.
  2. Put butter, 3 Tbsp. apple cooking water and sift in 1 cup cake flour. Knead until smooth dough forms. Cut dough in half, and roll out each half separately, until thin. Cut in 1 inch strips about 8 inches long.
  3. Place apple slices over lapping on each strip. Roll strip up from end, inclosing apples. ( Leave enough apple, uncut edge to show above dough)
  4. Place in cupcake paper liners and set together in baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Brush tops with honey. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon
