Pumpkin Harvest Bones

(from Lucianolinda’s recipe box)

I make these for my dogs, and they love them. There is nothing in these that would be harmful to people, so feel safe giving them to your pets.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. dry milk
  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Blend eggs and pumpkin together; add slat, dry milk and flour. Add water to make dough workable. A few drops at a time, so as not to get it too sticky. Dough should be dry and stiff. Mix with hands.
  3. Roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes. ( I have a bone shaped cookie cutter from a Halloween set).
  4. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet. Bake 20 minutes on one side, turn over and bake another 20 minutes.
  5. cool on wire rack. These freeze well, if they last that long.
