Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1.4 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. condensed milk (small can)
  • 1 12 oz. pkg. dark chocolate chips
  • 3 c. small marshmellows
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, margarine, salt and milk in a saucepan.

  2. Heat medium high until bubbling and cook for 6 minutes at a slow boil

  3. Remove from heat and add choc. chips, marshemellows, vanilla and nuts

  4. Blend thoroughly

  5. Spoon thick fudge into a buttered dish – a 13 × 9 fan makes thin frudge pieces

  6. The weather can determine the success of the fudge. It will not turn out right every time. Sometimes you get “spoon fudge”. It means you did not heat it on high enough heat or long enough. Experience is the best tool for success. The firmer you want it, the longer you cook it. Increase the time to 7 or 8 minutes. Too much longer and you make concrete.
