Very Chocolate Chip Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 cups (24 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Confectioners' sugar, optional

Directions

  1. In a large heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, butter and water; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat; stir in 2 cup chocolate chips until melted. Cool slightly.

  2. In a large bowl, beat eggs and vanilla; stir in chocolate mixture, mixing well. Stir in remaining chocolate chips.

  3. Spread into a greased 13 × 9-inch baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool.

  4. Cut into bars, if desired, place a stencil over each brownie and sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar.
