Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rye flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 cups cracked wheat or wheat germ
  • 1/2 cup powdered non-fat milk
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 cups chicken or beef stock (fish stock for cats)
  • 1 egg

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl and form a dough. Roll dough out to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.

  3. Bake 40-45 minutes at 300 degrees F. (You can add a few drops food coloring to dough to make different colored pet treats.)
  4. Refrigerate treats until ready to use.
  5. Variation: Pet canapés: Surround store bought pet treats or chunks of meat with homemade dough and bake as for homemade treats.

  6. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
