Fried Chocolate Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 34 cup shortening
  • 1//2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt and shortening. Blend with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly.
  2. Gradually add the water until dough forms and holds together.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and stir in coca and enough sugar to make a spreading-consistency paste.
  4. Roll out dough on a floured surface.
  5. Cut our 8-inch circles of dough.
  6. Spread a heaping tablespoon of filling on one half of each dough circle.
  7. Fold over the other half. Crimp edge with a fork. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or until the crust is browned.
