Cranberry Catchup

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. onions
  • 4 lbs. cranberries
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cloves
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. allspice
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper

Directions

  1. Peel onions and chop very fine. Place in a large saucepot. Add cranberries and water and cook until tender. Rub through a sieve. Add remaining ingredients and boil until thick, stirring occasionally. Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal.
  2. makes about 3 pints

  3. Serve as a relish with poultry or meat.
