Four-Fruit Chutney

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. firm ripe Bartlett pears
  • 1 Lb. plums, pitted and cut up
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling
  • 1 can (21 oz.) peach pie filling
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 tsp. pure granulated salt
  • 3/4 cup cider vinegar

Directions

  1. Half, core and dice pears and measure 9 cups. Put in kettle with remaining ingredients. Bring to simmering point and simmer gently, uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 1 hour. Pour into 10 hot sterilized 1/2 pint jars and seal. Process in water bath 5 minutes.
