Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. ground espresso
  • 1/2 Tbsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 Tbsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. chile powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. brown sugar
  • 3/4 lb. strip steak, fat removed
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced

Directions

  1. Mix coffee with onion powder, paprika, salt, chile powder and brown sugar. Spread on both sides of the steak, pressing the spice on.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the steak and sauté 5 minutes, watching to make sure the spices do not burn. Turn the steak over and cook another 5 minutes or to desired doneness. A meat thermometer should read 125 degrees for medium-rare and 145 degrees for medium.
  3. Remove meat to a cutting board and pour pan juices over the steak. Slice and serve. Serve tomatoes on the side.
