The Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger

Ingredients

  • 4- ⅓ raw burger patties
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced {the quantity really depends on how much you like them. I used about 1/4 cup for each burger}
  • 8 onion rings, about 2 per burger {I used frozen}
  • 12 slices of Cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 16 slices of Texas Toast
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • Secret Sauce {recipe follows}
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 dill pickle, diced

Directions

  1. Burger

  2. Prepare onion rings according to package directions; set aside

  3. In a large skillet, fry bacon until just barely crispy; set aside

  4. Prepare grilled cheese sandwiches {two per burger} with one slice of Cheddar cheese each; set aside

  5. Prepare Secret Sauce; set aside

  6. In a small skillet, sauté mushrooms in butter on medium heat; set aside

  7. Grill your burgers at about 350 degrees until slightly firm when pressed in the center

  8. Layer burgers on a grilled cheese sandwich beginning with patty, one slice each of Cheddar & Swiss cheeses, 2 slices of bacon, sautéd mushrooms, 2 onion rings, Secret Sauce, lettuce and top with remaining grilled cheese sandwich

  9. Secret Sauce

  10. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, mixing well

  11. Pour over burgers
